Summary:
What is dedication? The importance of being dedicated, how dedication helps propel life forward
“Talent is cheap; dedication is expensive. It will cost you your life.” ― Irving Stone
Students have heard the importance of being committed to our work. Great emphasis is given to dedication as a positive trait in personality development. More than naught, dedication delivers success in life. Students are kept on track to accomplish their goals by their dedication, which acts as a glue.
Students must be completely committed to something in order to be dedicated. It is being committed to doing a specific task efficiently and effectively. It can be intangible like achieving a certain goal, completing a task, or getting the desired result. It can also be something physical, like supporting a cause, becoming part of a religion, or a sports team.
Dedication leads to success in the long run. It encourages students to persevere in the face of obstacles and hardships. If you are a committed student, you will always find a reason to continue what you are doing. Hence, the reasons you are dedicated to your work are also the reason that keeps moving you forward and makes you reach success.
At times in life, one might feel that they are not doing as well as expected in any work that they are doing. It could be a job, studies, hobbies, or relationship. But if the person were to stop and check if they were dedicated to their work or not, they’d also realize where the problem lies. Students will find that they excel in anything they choose to pursue if they commit themselves to it. This is how dedication ensures success.
Dedication is not easy and requires patience. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It took ages to be built. Its builders might have gone to dust but Rome still exists to this day. Dedication is not for immediate results. Students must maintain their concentration and commitment to the current work at hand since dedication is a marathon.
With dedication, the chances of distraction are eliminated. Because without dedication, it’ll be easy to get distracted and consequently side-line the task at hand. Start with the goal in mind to properly inspire yourself as a student to be committed to anything. If you know where or what your destination is, then you are more likely to remain dedicated to it.
Besides, by knowing what you want to achieve, you can check where you have reached so far and what efforts or steps you need to take to reach success. By being dedicated to your goal, you’ll stick by it come any storm. You’ll cross hurdles and find ways to keep pushing until you have achieved your goal.
Bear in mind that dedication without hard work is like sitting in a raft over listless water. If you are a dedicated student, you will study hard, and everyone who works hard is obviously dedicated to their goal.
There is no shortcut to success. For students, it is a long, difficult, winding route. Only if you have dedication, you’ll keep moving forward on the path. But if you are susceptible to distractions, then it will take more time and effort to reach your destination. With dedication, you’ll reach home, without dedication you’ll probably give up too soon.
Victor Hugo took 17 years to complete his novel Les Misérables which he started in 1830. Imagine 17 years of dedication to complete what is considered to be one of the greatest novels of the nineteenth century. It is easy to start but hard to complete. As a student, the path to your goal is a solitary one, but your commitment to getting there is the constant companion. You’ll fall and dedication will pick you up. You may lose sight but dedication will light your path.
