Bennett

Fear is everywhere and we all have our fears. It is as normal as breathing. But fear becomes a problem when one clings to it. Many people are so overpowered by their fear that they fail to move forward in their lives with necessary changes.

One man’s fear might sound silly to another man but we all have our fair share of fears. It can be affecting us in our personal, educational, social, or professional lives. However, the difference between successful people and those who can’t seem to live fearlessly is that the prior have mastered their fears.

As a student, it might be frightening to see numerous types of injustice and tragedy in our daily life. Some hide it while some ignore it and move on. However, permitting oneself to be consumed by fear and to exist in perpetual fear can have a very bad effect on one’s life. It creates a tremendous toll on the mind and body.

If one’s fear isn’t confronted, it will keep gnawing on one’s mind. This can create a lot of stress which in turn leads to making poor decisions. Your ability to assess a situation objectively and take reasonable action gets compromised. We all need to know when to stop and govern ourselves, especially students.

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it… The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear,” said Nelson Mandela.

In other words, you cannot become fearless. Because of its constant happiness, melancholy, rage, and pain, students cannot escape it. A healthy brain makes use of fear and hence fear can only be conquered, not eliminated. Fear is an emotion that lives within us and creeps up whenever we are dealing with something we truly care about. Fear indicates interest and tells us what we have to do.

The more scared we are, the more sure we can be that we have to do it. But, if it were to mean nothing to us, there would be no resistance. So instead of trying to find out how to become fearless, it is wiser as a student to find out “how to conquer fear and not give in to it?”

Fear is a belief. It is an unpleasant emotion resulting from the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. It is that fellow in your mind insisting that you are not good enough, or you won’t succeed or what will others think? This persistent thought can grow and infect our subconscious, evolve into a belief, and come out as our identity. All students experience fear, but we need to stop hiding from it and start facing it. We need to take charge of the situation and decide to conquer our fear. Fear is conquered only when we face it head-on.

Here Are Some Steps That’ll Help You As A Student To Become Fearless by Conquering Fear

1. Be in The Present

Fear tends to remove happiness from your life by threatening you with negative things that might happen. No one has control over everything. Some things will happen and some may never happen. Students cannot and should not squander their time or their peace thinking about future probabilities that frequently err toward impossibility. Your present is what you have in hand, take a moment and enjoy it.

2. Claim Your Fear

Denying negative emotions won’t make them go away. You’ve got to claim your fear for only by accepting what is ailing you can you begin to change it for the better. It is easy to fall into the pit of overthinking but it’s counterproductive. Instead, speak about your fear or concern with loved ones. It can help ease worries and garner advice that can be very helpful.

3. Others Opinions Matter but Not Very Much

Students naturally have a tendency to be concerned with what other people think of us. This is because we need to get along with others. But that does not mean someone else’s opinion can control how we live our lives. Fear of judgement and possible exclusion can paralyse us. But such a fear is a make-believe fear and lacks rationale. One might feel that putting forth a point during any meeting might sound stupid or unnecessary, but who is to say, your very comment can get you a promotion or a raise.

4. Embrace Mistakes

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If one has not failed, then one will neither succeed. Almost every single discovery or invention on the planet has been due to an accident or a mistake. Additionally, we only learn to optimize ourselves and improve our efficiency as students through failures.

Summary: What are fears and how to conquer fears? “The one who falls and gets up is stronger than the one who never tried.
