About college

The Mangalore Marine College and Technology is the only Marine engineering college in the state of Karnataka.  The college is approved by The Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, & AICTE, New Delhi, and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi for B.E. Marine Engineering Course. It is regarded as one of the best marine engineering colleges in India. 

Infrastructure and Facilities:

The college boasts the finest amenities and infrastructure. The classrooms in the college are spacious and well furnished. 

The classrooms are spread over an area of 50000 sq ft. All classrooms and learning halls are fitted with the latest in digital technology like LCD projectors and sound systems.

All classrooms are equipped with audiovisual facilities and LCD projectors. The classrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi for unlimited internet access to students and staff.

  • -They are also equipped with the latest versions of the necessary software like different compilers, Database Management Systems, etc., and varieties of peripheral devices like different types of Printers, Digitizers, and Scanners are available.

  • -All department faculty members are well qualified and trained in their respective fields most of whom are P.G Degree holders and Research Scholars.

  • -MMCT has full-fledged separate computer labs as per the university syllabus. Besides, they have additional Labs for the internet, and CAD/CAM.

Admission

Mangalore Marine College and Technology Course Admissions:

The admission process for various courses at Mangalore marine college and technology is as follows:

B.E Marine Engineering:

Duration: 4 Years

  • The candidate must have passed the 10th and 12th standards from a recognized board.
  • Pass in 12th Standard or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60%.
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the English language in the 10th or 12th standard exam.
  • Qualified in Online Common Entrance Test. The Candidate should appear for IMU Common Entrance Test and must pass the test.
  • Passport is Mandatory
  • Age limit: Maximum 25 Years applicable for General Category candidates. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to the "Scheduled Caste" (SC) / "Scheduled Tribe" (ST) Category shall be relaxed by 5 years.
  • Candidates must be medically fit including eyesight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended and eyesight up to (+ or -) 2.5 with no color blindness. The minimum height should be 157 centimeters.


B.E Mechanical Engineering:

Duration: 4 years

  • 10+2 with PCM 45% aggregate marks from recognized Boards/Universities.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Age limit: Maximum 25 Years.
  • Those wishes to join through Govt. The quota must clear the KEA-CET and COMED-K. After counseling based on the merit in KEA-CET and COMED-K, the KEA and COMED-K will allocate the institute.
  • For Management & Vacant Seats after KEA and COMED-K Admissions, MMCT undertakes Aptitude, IQ, Reasoning, and Psychometric tests followed by an interview. The final selection and admissions are subject to the discretion of MMCT.


B.E Computer Science Engineering:

Duration: 4 years

  • 10+2 with PCM 45% aggregate marks from recognized Boards/Universities.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Age limit: Maximum 25 Years.
  • Those wishes to join through Govt. The quota must clear the KEA-CET and COMED-K. After counseling based on the merit in KEA-CET and COMED-K, the KEA and COMED-K will allocate the institute.
  • For Management & Vacant Seats After KEA and COMED-K Admissions, MMCT undertakes Aptitude, IQ, Reasoning, and Psychometric tests followed by an interview. The final selection and admissions are subject to the discretion of MMCT.


GME (Graduate Marine Engineering):

Duration: 1 year

Graduate Marine Engineering leads to becoming Chief Engineer on ships.

Eligibility:

  • Category 1: BE or BTECH in Mechanical Engineering with minimum marks of 50% in the final year.
  • Category 2: A full-time BE or BTECH in all Mechanical Engineering streams eg. Mechanical and Automation, Mechanical and Electronics, Mechanical and Automobile, etc. However, the word "Mechanical" should be first indicating that Mechanical Engineering is the core and the second subject is elective.
  • Category 3: Candidates who have a degree in all Naval Architecture streams eg. Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding, etc. However, the word "Naval Architecture" should be first indicating that Naval Architecture is the core and the second subject is an elective.
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the English language on the 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam.
  • Possession of a passport is Mandatory.
  • Age limit: Maximum 28 Years.
  • Medical standard: Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight up to (+ or -) 2.5 with no color blindness. The minimum height should be 157 centimeters.


Post-Sea Courses:

Elementary First Aid (EFA), Personal Survival Techniques (PST): Duration, Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR), Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FPFF), Refresher Personal Survival Techniques (Ref. PST), and Refresher Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (Ref. FPFF) is for all Seafarers who are to serve on board seagoing merchant ships and hole Passport, INDoS & CDC among other requirements.
