Jerome M. Fernandez Thuppasseril, the first native Bishop of Quilon, created the college in 1951. Norman Cardinal Gilroy, Papal Legate to India, publicly inaugurated the college on December 29, 1952.
With the addition of degree courses in Commerce, Economics, and Zoology, Fatima was upgraded to the status of a first-year college. This was followed by the addition of Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics courses. Hostels, a sports pavilion, a chemical block, an auditorium, playgrounds, an NCC office, a hockey stadium, language lab, basketball courts, a botanical garden, computer laboratories, and research centres were added as physical resources. Fatima Mata National College has a successful narrative to tell.?It has achieved impressive progress as one of the state's main autonomous institutions by continually contributing to educational excellence, social equity, and knowledge development and dissemination. Fatima's mission is to alter society via value-based education, human development, and country building. Ours is a life-long education, not just a means of subsistence.
