Shivaji University, Kolhapur

Shivaji Institution was founded in 1962 and is a state university in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. The university is named after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire, and has an 853-acre (345-hectare) campus. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India's then-president, dedicated it on November 18, 1962. This university was founded by Yashwantrao Chavan and Balasaheb Desai. [2] One of the primary goals of its establishment was to meet the educational needs of the South Maharashtra region. Significant funds from financial agencies such as the University Grants Commission (India),[3] Department of Science and Technology (India),[4], and DBT recognize the University's efforts toward excellence. Water, which is stored on campus, is self-sufficient for the university. During the rainy season, the university is self-sufficient in water, which is stored on campus. Shivaji University recently inked an MoU with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre[5] for Material Science research. It has also collaborated with the Indian Institute of Geo-Magnetism, Mumbai[6], as well as enterprises such as Phyto-Pharma. Several institutes, including the Maharashtra Police Academy in Nashik and the Centre for Social Studies, have applied for affiliation with Shivaji University.
